Hello! My name is María Paula and this is the story when I moved from my country Colombia to Dominican Republic...
Everything stared the day my dad (Iván) arrived home. He looked anxious but nobody asked him anything.
I was thinking about why was he so anxious, imagining a lot of things on my mind but i never thought it would be what it was.
That day, at night, we were having diner (my family and I) and then he stared to talk.
Before he started talking, my mom (Margarita) took my sibling's hand and mine, (she does it when it's happening something serious). I felt the same as my siblings, we were confused and worried but exciting at the same time.
He stared to talk and i got freeze while he was telling is the big notice.
It was about moving from Colombia to another country in 6 months.
My first feeling was sadness because I was going to leave my friends and family. I cried a lot!!
But then I stared to feel curiosity about how was that country where i was going to move.
I remember that my dad told me that i had to learn how to speak english because i needed it for the school. It was my biggest concern.
When the day came, finally on January of 2012, I got ready and went to the airport. My friends and family were there to say goodbye. I couldn't handle my tears and they went out.
All the flight was sad until i arrived at Santo Domingo. When i get off the plane I felt the pleasant warmth I was expecting. That night I went to Adrian Tropical and I tasted some typical food (mofongo) that i loved.
Over time, I joined the school Sek Las Americas and now I'm still here, studying with a nice classmates in our senior year.
